24 SEASONS
#10 夏至 GESHI Summer solstice [21 JUNE - 6 JULY]
The time of the year with the longest days and shortest nights. The sunlight decreases toward winter. Minazuki is the classical name for the sixth month of the lunar calendar, equivalent to June. On June 30th, there is a traditional event called "Nagoshi no Harae," where people purify themselves, casting off impurities accumulated over the past six months and praying for protection from misfortune and good health for the remaining half of the year until year-end. This event involves replenishing energy with sweet treats during the increasing heat and physical exhaustion of the season. There is a custom to eat a traditional Japanese confection called "Minazuki," which features a triangle-shaped, freshly shaved ice adorned with red azuki beans, symbolizing the old lunar month of June, to dispel evil spirits. This ring was inspired by Minazuki and its traditions.
