#4 春分 Shunbun – Spring Equinox [21 March – 4 April]

Rebirth Egg-shell Statement Ring | Japanese Seasonal Design | Brass Statement Ring | Spring Equinox Jewellery | 24 SEASONS

The spring equinox is the day when the sun rises directly in the east and sets directly in the west, with day and night almost equal in length. It is a time to celebrate nature and cherish all living beings.

From a natural perspective, it marks the changing of the seasons and the cycle of life – symbolised here as a hatching egg. From a Buddhist perspective, this is when the boundary between this world and the afterlife is believed to grow thin, as the equinox is reached.

This experimental metalwork belongs to the Twenty-four Seasons jewellery collection, inspired by the ancient Japanese calendar. In Japan, the year is not only marked by four distinct seasons, but is also divided into Nijūshi Sekki – 24 seasonal phases. Even today, many traditional customs and events continue to follow this calendar.
