EDO-KOMON SERIES : 'SEIGAIHA'

Edo-komon are traditional Japanese designs from the Edo period (1603-1867). Edo-komon motifs consisting of auspicious symbols and patterns are the inspiration for many of EMOSIWN designs.

SEIGAIHA represents the calm ocean and is a symbol of good luck that brings gifts from the sea. As the sea is a symbol of eternity, people use this motif to wish for a long-lasting happy life. The name Seigaiha is said to come from the title of the dancing music featured in the Tale of Genji, a novel written during the Heian Period around the year 1200.
