EDO-KOMON SERIES: 'YABANE'

‘Yabane’ (arrow feather pattern) is a traditional Japanese design based on the form of arrow fletching. Yabane, derived from traditional arrow feathers, symbolises a straight, unwavering path. Once released, an arrow does not return - representing determination and forward movement in life. It carries a clear sense of direction and intent. As one of the Edo Komon textile patterns (fine stencil-dyed kimono designs from the Edo period, 1603–1867), it has been valued for its sense of resolve.
